The C3 Benson Steel – Royal Containers Caledon Kids of Steel Triathlon
The C3 Benson Steel – Royal Containers Caledon Kids of Steel Triathlon was started in 2001 to celebrate Olympic Champion Simon Whitfield’s Sydney Gold Medal.
Race director Stewart Barclay and the C3 High Performance Team show up each year with a race that has a 3-6 year old age category, 7-18 year old age categories, adult categories and family relays.
The race takes place in a warm, safe six lane 25m pool at Mayfield Recreation Complex in Caledon. The bike is on a closed loop, paved 3km flat road. The run is a 1km flat grass & fine gravel loop. Participants do various numbers of swim-bike and run loops depending on their age categories. The event includes a race t-shirt, awards, and a great post race meal for each participant.
Members of the C3 High Performance Racing Team are volunteers each year with a chance to meet former Olympians, and World Champion Triathletes who have developed their skills in the C3 Club. Olympic coach and TV commentator Barrie Shepley is the emcee and finishing line announcer for the day to make each participant feel positive when they hit the finishing line.
The C3 Benson Steel – Royal Containers Caledon Kids of Steel Triathlon is a great place for novice adults to get a start, for advanced adults to use as a spring time trial and for kids of all ages to get a great positive spring experience.
